Is it normal to discuss plastic surgery like it’s no big deal?

I’m a foreigner working in Korea, and one day my coworker casually told me:
“You’d look so much prettier with double eyelid surgery.”
She smiled and meant it as a compliment. I know she wasn’t being mean, but I couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable.
In my country, talking about someone’s appearance like that – especially at work – would be super inappropriate.
But here, it feels so casual. People even talk openly about surgeries they've had or want to have.
Is this a cultural thing? Should I just get used to it?
